This experiment could change your business forever.

5 minute read

This past week, I found myself working at a fraction of my usual productivity.

My energy levels were nonexistent and I found myself doped up on anti-inflammatory meds after a series of spinal readjustments.

(Bear with me here, because what I’m going to share could change your business forever and help you experience more time freedom than ever before)

My powerhouse routine turned into being couch-locked with a heat pack on my back as I recovered.

I could, at best get through a couple of hours of work in a day (and that’s being optimistic).

This period of inactivity turned out to be an incredible gift because it helped me unlock a new level of creative thinking and problem-solving in my business.

After this experiment, my business won’t ever be the same.

And today, my goal is to open you up to the same gorgeous way of thinking that will free up hours and maybe even days in your schedule ~ without needing to injure yourself to benefit from this epiphany.

So grab a cuppa if you’re ready to do something that feels like it should be illegal.

the show must go on

The first awareness shift I had while meditating, cat on my lap, on my couch this week was that whether or not I’m feeling fabulous, or can barely read the words on my monitor because I’m in so much pain, the work still needed to get done.

Messages needed to be sent,

Clients needed to be checked in with.

And life needed to go on.

If I wanted to keep my business running that is.

And in this moment I realized that I was still the biggest bottleneck in my own business.

While I’ve got fabulous systems to support me in my business I realized that there were still loads of activities that relied on me to execute them to keep my business running smoothly.

I found myself sitting on the couch trying to will myself to get up and do the work.

And after a multitude of unsuccessful attempts (and seeing stars every time I looked at the computer monitor) I started to ask the question:

What’s essential? What must get done today?

And then it dawned on me to ask:

Does this really have to be done by me?

At that moment, I realized that despite outsourcing to a wonderful team, I was still holding on to a stack of tasks that really did not need to be done by me.

It, unfortunately, took an injury and inability to get it done to finally let go of these tasks.

you're brainwashed darling

You see, so often as entrepreneurs we find ourselves indoctrinated in the idea that we have to hustle 9~5 and we find ourselves stuck in the mentality that hard work is the foundation of success.

I mean if we didn’t work really hard to receive it, do we really even deserve it?

And in getting caught up in this web of beliefs and paradigms we actually stop ourselves from reaching our next level of time freedom and revenue growth.

My inability to get the work done finally pushed me out of my comfort zone when it came to outsourcing some of the stickier tasks in my business.

The result? Work got done while I spent most of my time this week in physical therapy sessions, hanging out on the couch, drinking tea, and playing Cozy Grove while completing the few essential business tasks that only I could complete.

When I finally started feeling better I even took a little adventure and enjoyed a Jack and Ginger over lunch.

While I was enjoying my life, (well as much as recovery allows) my business continued to function.

New leads were coming into my world.

People applied to work with me.

And I showed up (with my limited energy) for only the tasks which required my highest zone of genius.

put your lab coat on

So today, I’m going to encourage you to do a little experiment and answer these 3 questions:

1) If I had an injury today that left me unable to do more than 2~4 hours of focused work a day, (indefinitely) what would I do to keep everything running smoothly?

And if that question isn’t stretching you enough how about asking yourself:

2) If this injury worsened and I was only able to spend 4 hours a week working on my business to keep it running smoothly what would I do? What would I eliminate? What would I outsource?

And finally…

3) If I had to immediately stop doing 3-5 of the most time consuming things on my schedule as of today (no ifs and buts) what would I let go of?

These questions could change the way you do business forever.

And my hope is that it won’t take an injury to show you that you could be so much more free in your business than you ever imagined ~ with the right systems and support in place.

P.S. Need help figuring out who to hire, what to outsource, and how to do it? I cover these topics in detail in my business mentorship experience. In fact, I’ve been using these principles to work 3~4 days a week while growing my revenue every single year for years (and I’ve helped my clients to achieve similar results too.)

So if you’re ready to experience an elevation in your revenue and lifestyle freedom this year, drop me the word Elevate in the chat on the bottom right or if you’re reading this inside your inbox, simply hit reply to this email.

I currently have one more open space for private mentorship.

in summary

If you desire to build a flourishing business that keeps you happy, healthy, and wealthy – stay in your zone of genius and outsource or eliminate the rest.

journaling & reflection:

Here are some of my favorite reflection questions from today’s topic:

If I had an injury today that left me unable to do more than 2~4 hours of focused work a day, (forever) what would I do to keep everything running smoothly?

* If this injury worsened and I was only able to spend 4 hours a week working on my business to keep it running smoothly what would I do? What would I eliminate? What would I outsource?

* If I had to immediately stop doing 3-5 of the most time consuming things on my schedule as of today (no ifs and buts) what would I let go of?

* Where am I filling my schedule with tasks that are not in my zone of genius – or that could be passed on to someone else? Why? What’s stopping me from taking the next steps to release these tasks?

* Do I have my standard operating procedures documented and ready to pass on to a team member or do I need support to make this happen?
